இன்று, பிப்ரவரி 24, 3,000 நாள்களாக, காணாமல் ஆக்கப்பட்ட தமிழ் குழந்தைகளின் தாய்மார்கள், அவர்களின் குழந்தைகளுக்கான நீதி மற்றும் எதிர்காலத்தில் இனப்படுகொலைகளை தடுக்க, தமிழ் உரிமைகளை பாதுகாக்கும் வகையில் அமெரிக்கா மற்றும் ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியத்தின் ஆதரவை பெற, வவுனியா நீதிமன்றத்தின் முன்பு, ஏ9 நெடுஞ்சாலையில் தொடர்ந்து போராடி வருகின்றனர். இவர்களின் போராட்டம் கடந்த காலத்திற்கு மட்டுமல்ல, எதிர்கால தமிழ் தலைமுறையின் பாதுகாப்பு, மரியாதை, மற்றும் சுதந்திரத்திற்காகவும் ஆகும்.
வரவிருக்கும் ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் மனித உரிமை பேரவையின் (UNHRC) அமர்வை முன்னிட்டு, தமிழ் தாய்மார்கள் சர்வதேச சமூகத்தை போர்க்குற்றங்கள் தொடர்பாக நீதி மற்றும் பொறுப்பை உறுதிப்படுத்துவதற்காக நடவடிக்கை எடுக்குமாறு வலியுறுத்துகின்றனர். 16 ஆண்டுகளாக நாம் தாங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் இந்தத் துயரத்தில், போரின் போது மற்றும் அதன் பின்னர் கடத்தப்பட்ட எங்கள் குழந்தைகளை தேடி, எங்களது துயரக் குரல்கள் இன்றுவரை வேடிக்கையாகவே பார்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.
உலகம் தன்னிச்சையாக செயல்பட முடியும் என்பதற்கான எடுத்துக்காட்டுகளை நாம் காண்கிறோம். சர்வதேச சமூகத்திற்கு ரஷ்யா, இஸ்ரேல், மற்றும் சிரியா போன்ற நாடுகளின் தலைவர்களை பொறுப்புக்குள் கொண்டு வர வழிகள் இருக்கின்றன என்றால், இலங்கையின் போர்க்குற்றவாளிகளை நீதிக்குப் புறக்கணிக்க முடியாது. இவ்வாறான இரட்டை நிலைப்பாடு ஏற்க முடியாதது. போர் குற்றங்களின் சமமான நீதியும், பாதிக்கப்பட்ட தமிழ் மக்கள் தங்கள் உரிமைகளைப் பெறுவதும் அவசியமானது.
அமெரிக்கா UNHRC-யிலிருந்து விலகியுள்ளதை நாம் அறிவோம். இந்த நிலையில், ஐரோப்பிய ஒன்றியம் (EU) முக்கியமான பங்கு வகிக்க வேண்டிய நேரம் இது. ஐரோப்பிய நாடுகளின் தூதர்கள் மற்றும் உயர்ஸ்தானிகர்கள் தமிழர் வாழும் பகுதிகளுக்கே வந்து, நேரடியாக பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுடன் உரையாடி, எங்களுக்கு உண்மையில் என்ன தேவை என்பதை புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். கடந்த 16 ஆண்டுகளாக தமிழர்களை ஏமாற்றியும், சமீபத்திய தேர்தலில் தமிழ் மக்களால் நிராகரிக்கப் பெற்றவர்களின் கருத்துக்களை அடிப்படையாகக் கொண்டு எந்த முடிவுகளையும் எடுக்க வேண்டாம்.
காலம் விரைந்து ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது. பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களும், குற்றவாளிகளும் வயதாகி வருகின்றனர். UNHRC இப்போது நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கத் தவறினால், உண்மை அவர்களுடன் மண்ணடியில் புதைந்து போகும். இலங்கையின் போர்க்குற்றங்களில் ஈடுபட்டவர்களை சர்வதேச நீதிமன்றத்திற்கு கொண்டுவர, தீர்மானங்களை மீறி, நடைமுறை நடவடிக்கைகளை மேற்கொள்ள ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் மற்றும் சர்வதேச சமூகத்தை கேட்டுக்கொள்கிறோம்.
நீதி தேர்வு செய்யப்பட முடியாது. தமிழ் குடும்பங்கள் தீர்வைப் பெறவேண்டும். எங்கள் காணாமல் ஆக்கப்பட்ட குழந்தைகள் குறித்து பதில்கள் தேவை. நீதி நிறைவேறும் வரை, எங்கள் போராட்டம் தொடரும்.

Tamil Mothers Demand UNHRC Action for Justice and Accountability
Today, February 24, marks 3,000 days since Tamil mothers of missing children began their tireless protest outside the Vavuniya Court on the A9 highway. They stand in silent defiance, seeking justice for their children and international support from the U.S. and the European Union to prevent future genocides and protect Tamil rights. Their struggle is not just about the past but about ensuring safety, dignity, and freedom for future generations of Tamils.
As the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) prepares for its upcoming session, Tamil mothers of missing children call on the international community to prioritize justice and accountability for the war crimes committed in Sri Lanka. For over a decade, we have endured unimaginable pain, searching for our children who were forcibly disappeared during and after the Sri Lankan civil war. Our cries for justice have been met with silence and inaction.
The world has shown it can act decisively when it chooses to. If the international community can find ways to prosecute leaders from Russia, Israel, and Syria, why is it impossible to bring Sri Lankan war criminals to justice? The double standard is evident and unacceptable. Tamil victims, like all victims of war crimes, deserve equal recognition and justice.
We know that the United States has withdrawn from the UNHRC, leaving the European Union (EU) with a significant role to play. We urge EU member countries to step forward with determination. Ambassadors and high commissioners from these nations should visit the Tamil homeland, speak directly with the victims, and understand what we truly need. Please do not rely on those who have deceived the Tamil people for the past 16 years and were decisively rejected by Tamils in the last election.
Time is running out. Many victims and perpetrators are aging. If the UNHRC fails to act now, both will pass away, leaving injustice buried with them. We urge the UNHRC and the broader international community to move beyond resolutions and take concrete steps toward prosecution. Sri Lankan leaders responsible for war crimes must be brought before international forums without further delay.
The pursuit of justice cannot be selective. Tamil families deserve closure. Our missing children deserve answers. We will not stop until justice is served.

News coverage followed after the mothers’ request and their continuous demonstration at their booth for 3,000 days. These mothers are the only ones who have remained on the streets day and night, relentlessly demanding accountability and justice. They have not been influenced or bribed by any foreign government or NGO, nor have they traveled to Switzerland. They firmly believe that their struggle holds greater significance when carried out in their Tamil homeland.
Therefore, we urge other mothers not to accept bribes, refrain from traveling abroad, and remain in the Tamil homeland. Set up booths everywhere and continue the struggle for justice.
