For decades, Tamils have waited for truth and justice in cases like the Chemmani mass grave. Evidence of war crimes and genocide has too often been hidden, delayed, or denied because we lacked access to independent forensic tools. Without the ability to investigate scientifically, our struggle for accountability remains incomplete.
We, the Tamil community, must take action. We call upon Tamils everywhere to speak to their country officials, lawmakers, and humanitarian organizations to help secure these tools for the Jaffna Medical Faculty. By donating directly to this trusted institution, we ensure that no political party, no foreign power, and no private interest owns these tools. They belong to the Tamil people, under the care of Jaffna’s medical experts.
While we know we cannot obtain every tool immediately, we can begin with the three most basic and essential instruments needed for credible forensic investigation:
- Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR): To detect hidden graves without disturbing them.
- DNA Testing Equipment: To match remains with relatives and give families long-denied answers.
- Forensic Cameras: To capture irrefutable visual evidence of trauma and grave sites.
Together, these three tools can transform how mass graves and human rights violations are documented in the Tamil homeland. They will help build a permanent record for truth and future justice.
This is not just about equipment—it is about protecting memory, defending truth, and preserving the dignity of our people. Every Tamil voice matters. Write, call, and meet your elected officials. Urge them to support the donation of these tools to Jaffna Medical Faculty. Contribute what you can. Spread this message.
Let us not wait for others to define our history. Let us equip ourselves with the tools to uncover the truth and ensure that justice cannot be buried.
Thank you,
