US Tamils Strongly Oppose Political Alliances with Tamil Killers: No Support for Douglas, Karuna, or Pillayan

The US Tamil community expresses its deep disappointment and firm opposition to any Tamil political party that embraces individuals complicit in the massacre, displacement, and systemic oppression of Tamils. We condemn the recent outreach by the Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) to the EPDP, led by Douglas Devananda — a man whose hands are stained with Tamil blood.
Douglas, Karuna, and Pillayan are not just former paramilitary operatives — they are symbols of betrayal, terror, and Tamil genocide. Aligning with them is not a political strategy; it is a moral collapse.
The Tamil people voted for change — not compromise with collaborators.
We remind all Tamil parties:
- Douglas Devananda directly aided and abetted the Sri Lankan military’s brutal campaign against Tamil civilians, particularly during the final stages of the war.
- Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan (Karuna) defected to the Sri Lankan side and is responsible for countless atrocities, including the massacre of child soldiers.
- Pillayan (Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan) similarly partnered with the military and undermined Tamil resistance from within.
These individuals represent the darkest chapters of Tamil history — chapters written in blood and betrayal.
US Tamils are watching.
We reject any justification that claims these engagements are merely for local council administration. The Tamil national struggle is not a bargaining chip to be traded for a few council seats.
We stand with all voices — including long-standing members of ITAK — who have condemned this alliance. Political convenience should never override justice, truth, and the memory of over 146,000 Tamils who perished.
We urge all Tamil parties to:
- Uphold the Tamil mandate for justice and sovereignty
- Refuse all alliances with known Tamil traitors and war criminals
- Build trust with the Tamil people through integrity and principle
The blood of our people is not a path to power.
The world is watching how Tamil leaders choose to represent our struggle. Those who betray our cause will find themselves on the wrong side of history — and the Tamil nation will remember.
