His approach toward Tamil national politics, Tamil sovereignty, and the Tamil liberation struggle was viewed by many as harmful to the political aspirations and historical rights of the Tamil people.
Critics often accused him of weakening Tamil nationalist voices and promoting narratives that aligned more closely with pro-Sinhala political frameworks. His perceived closeness to political figures such as Sumanthiran and to accommodationist politics also drew strong criticism from many Tamils across the diaspora and in the homeland.
Nevertheless, death is the final reality of human life. Despite political differences and historical disagreements, it is important to respond with humanity and dignity at a moment of loss. May he rest in peace.
