Dear Friends,
Our WhatsApp account was hacked on Wednesday around 7:00 PM (New York time) and remained compromised until Thursday 8:00 PM. During this time, hackers sent many false messages to our contacts.
We have thousands of friends around the world connected to our WhatsApp, and we received many calls, emails, and text messages alerting us. We sincerely thank everyone for their concern and support.
Please note: here in the USA we are well-off and secure. We will never ask anyone for favors or money. The messages you may have received were from hackers, not from us.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. We have also heard that WhatsApp accounts of church leaders in the Eastern Province and several Tamil activists have been targeted in similar hacking attempts.
We have now strengthened our security to protect our WhatsApp account.
