The Reality We Face Today
This generation of Tamil youth in the homeland is floating on the money sent by relatives living abroad. Motorbikes, modern houses, and a so-called “free life” give them the illusion of success — but in truth, they have forgotten the sorrow and sacrifice of their people.
Schools no longer matter.
Instead of building a smart and self-sufficient future, many choose a path of self-destruction: Alcohol, drugs, and broken relationships.
These Youth Are Tomorrow’s Voters
1. And yet, they have no memory of our resistance.
2. No awareness of the dream of Tamil Eelam.
3. To them, the present lifestyle is enough.
4. But when their foreign relatives are gone — who will support them?
Without building an independent Tamil economy, the Sinhala government will re-enslave our people.
* Daughters may be forced into domestic labor in Sinhala homes.
* Sons may become laborers on Sinhala-owned lands.
This is not a threat. It is a warning — and it is already unfolding.
Lessons from Other Nations
– The Jews of Israel did not rest after the Holocaust. Through memory and determination, they rebuilt and created one of the world’s strongest economies and militaries.
– The Palestinians have resisted occupation for decades. Their youth have not forgotten the Nakba of 1948.
– Rwanda, after genocide, rebuilt a new generation and has become a growing nation.
– In contrast, Native Americans and Aboriginal Australians lost their land, language, and memory. Generations were lost to poverty and dependency — because their youth were not prepared to resist cultural erasure.
If we forget our history and identity, no one will restore it for us.
Wake Up — Now
We are still not free.
If we forget the political goal of Tamil Eelam, the only future that awaits us is one of servitude.
Let our youth rise — Not as servants of the Sri Lankan state,
But as builders of a free Tamil homeland — with our own economy, education, and dignity.
Freedom is not found in entertainment.
Freedom is found in empowerment.
Thank you
